Staff Accountant

Summary:

The staff accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. This position involves managing day-to-day accounting tasks and supporting the finance team with key responsibilities such as account reconciliations, month-end journal entries, preparation of government surveys, sales & use tax and supporting the audit and compliance. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, analytical and have a strong understanding of accounting principles. 

 

Essential Duties:

·           Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and documenting business transactions.

·           Processes month-end reports for management review.

·           Assists with timely processing of financial statements.

·           Reconciles GL accounts, investigates discrepancies in accounts and makes corrections as needed.

·           Performs year-end close out of accounts and assists working on the annual reviews, audits, and preparation of the tax return information.

·           Investigates variances between actual and budget figures.

·           Preparation of Sales/Use Tax Filing

·           Preparation of Government Surveys

·           Provides support for physical inventories, cost rolls, and the cycle count process.

·           Assist with annual audit

·           Other duties as assigned.

·           Work extended hours/weekends when assigned

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred.  
Minimum of 1 years of experience in a similar position preferable in a manufacturing setting.
Strong financial and general ledger knowledge. 
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.  
Ability to analyze financial data, prepare financial reports, and statements. 
Requires professional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.  
Competent Microsoft Office computer skills with advanced Excel knowledge preferred.
